BANGOR - 2017 came to a close. This year, New Years Eve is the only day where every American adult was born in the 1900's and every minor was born in the 2000's.

And Sunday Bangor's "Downtown Countdown" event had something for everyone.

The wind and cold certainly didn't stop people from enjoying the over two dozen events held in downtown Bangor Sunday.

The Annual New Years Eve celebration continues to grow each year.

Cheryl Michaud, owner West Market Artisan Coffee House, said "With the coffee tasting today we thought nobody will dare come out into this. Its early... no... We were super steady. And its continued to be steady."

And that proved to be the same for other places that were hosting activities throughout the day.

Teens gathered at Mexicali Blues to get a free henna tattoo that will last them well into the first few weeks of 2018. Friends Natalie and Alyssa made it their first stop.

Natalie said "We're going to look around downtown after this. But this is kinda the first one we wanted to do." Alyssa added "We're going down to the coffee shop next to have some coffee and I think we are going to do making the party stuff later. With the hats and we saw chairs made out of ice that were pretty cool too."

The Maine Discovery Museum welcomed families to make their own New Years party favors. One of their continuing yearly events. Director Trudi Plummer "We do this every year since two thousand three. I look forward to it every year. It's a lot of fun for the whole family. Kids as young as two can participate in this. Make their own noise makers and hats a whole afternoon of fun, and countdown way before bedtime."

After all the fun and saying goodbye to 2017, our new friends Natalie and Alyssa shared their new years resolutions. Natalie said "My new year resolution is to be more selfless." And Alyssa said "Mine is to be calm and carry on."

We couldn't think of better goals ourselves.
