Two New Caregiver Support Groups Begin

 

Ellsworth & Blue Hill—Caring for a loved one can be rewarding but also stressful. We often lose track of what is important to us. Support from others who understand can help us on this journey. The Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center will be hosting two new Caregiver Support groups in Blue Hill and Ellsworth.

The Blue Hill group will be held on Friday, February 23 from 10:30 am to 12 noon at the Blue Hill Public Library at Parker Point Road in Blue Hill.

The Ellsworth group will be held on Tuesday, February 27 from 10:30 am to 12 noon at the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center at 23 Commerce Park in Ellsworth.

Alice Hildebrand will be facilitation both groups. These groups are free and open to all interested. Questions? 207-664-0339.

3rd Annual Mini Golf Extravaganza (Fri. 23 Feb, 2018 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

3rd Annual Mini Golf Extravaganza at Cherryfield Academy Community Center, 53 Main St., Cherryfield February 22nd, 12-2 & 4-6 p.m. 23rd & 24th, 12-2, 4-6 & 8-10 p.m.  If you would like to book a private party of 10 or more people for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Friday or Saturday, please contact Cheryl Brown at 546-6053. Come enjoy the fun again this year!  Eighteen new holes are being created for your pleasure.  The 8-10 time frames will be played under black light so you may want to dress for the occassion. Children 12 and under $2.00, 13 and over $4.00.  After you play a game see if you can win a free game, put your name in for one of the door prizes (glow in the dark frisbees) and vote for your three favorite holes that you played.   

Franklin Veterans Club (Fri. 23 Feb, 2018 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

Friday's February 9th, 16th, and 23rd are $5 Friday's.  A hot meal at 5pm for just $5 bucks.    Jukebox, games including shuffleboard, pool, darts, cribbage or bring your own and get a game started.   There are also music enthusiasts that bring their instruments and jam in our new music room.    This is becoming a popular Friday night stop for many folks.   Family friendly until 7pm.

MEOC Essentials of College Planning Workshops (Fri. 23 Feb, 2018 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Who We Are
MEOC is funded entirely by the U.S. Department of Education. The program helps qualified adults make the
transition towards a college education. MEOC, which is housed at the University of Maine, provides assistance
to adults living in Maine and helps them go to whichever college or university they choose.

Our Work in Action
MEOC successfully placed 1,073 Maine adults in different colleges last year.
How to Participate
The starting point for all MEOC participants is The Essentials of College Planning, a FREE interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college
process: admissions, financial aid, career planning, and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately 2 – 3 hours. Pre-registration is required.
