COLUMBIA FALLS - On Saturday, April 21st the Downeast Salmon Federation (DSF) will host their Annual Smelt Fry & World Fish Migration Day Celebration from 11am - 4pm. Join DSF for a fun-filled day of family-friendly activities! Attendees can tour the Pleasant River Hatchery, visit the Heritage Fish Camp, learn more about the fisheries work of local organizations in the historic Union Hall, enjoy a hearty meal of fresh-caught fried smelt, vegetarian baked beans, coleslaw, rolls, and local blueberry dessert in the Wreaths Across America (WAA) gymnasium, sample smoked smelt, alewives, and mackerel in the DSF mobile smokehouse, and enjoy homemade venison stew while supplies last! Those over 21 can wash these fine delicacies down with outstanding locally-brewed craft beer served by Airline Brewing Company throughout the day.
