ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine men's ice hockey goalie Martin Ouellette (St.-Hippolyte, Quebec) was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, March 10, after an outstanding performance against Merrimack in the 2014 Hockey East opening round game. 

Ouellette posted 29 saves en route to his fourth shutout of the season as Maine defeated Merrimack 2-0 on Saturday night to advance to the 2014 Hockey East quarterfinals next weekend at Providence. It is the third time this season that Ouellette has been named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as he garnered the honor on both Dec. 31 and Feb. 10. 

Ouellette is 15-13-4 on the season. He has a 2.22 goals against average and a .927 save percentage. 

Maine returns to action when it travels to Providence for a best-of-three quarterfinal series. The first game is scheduled for Friday, March 14 at 7 PM.
