ORONO – Maine was outshot by Alaska-Anchorage 38-28.
The Black Bears took the early lead on a Sam Rennaker slap shot from distance, his first since joining Maine.
Maine lead 1-0 for around five minutes, until Alaska-Anchorage’s Tomi Hiekkavirta scored a power play goal to tie the game.
In spite of both teams’ best efforts, the game went in to overtime. Eduards Tralmaks banked in the game-winning goal off a Sea Wolf skate 3:13 in to the extra period.
Red Gendron’s team improves to 2-2 with the win. Maine is on the road starting October 18 against Quinnipiac,
