BREWER – Searsport baseball and softball swept the field on Saturday, sweeping the Class D state titles.
The Vikings peppered the scoreboard early, growing an 8-0 lead through the first five innings of play.
Sophomore pitcher Ana Lang held the Hornets off the scoreboard until the sixth inning, but ultimately secured the complete-game, 8-3 win.
“It feels unreal right now. We came in today ready to play, all of us. Our defense was great, offense was great. We came together today,” Lang said.
In baseball, the Vikings jumped out to an 8-1 lead after five innings. Senior pitcher Cody Reynolds secured the complete-game, 8-4 win, Searsport baseball’s fifth state championship in the last six years.
“It’s something that you can’t explain. It’s amazing. It’s honestly a once in a lifetime thing you honestly can’t put into words,” Reynolds said.
