PORTLAND – 24 of baseball’s top prospects gathered in Cary, N.C. for day one of training camp with Team USA, a third of which either currently or formerly spent time with the Portland Sea Dogs.
Portland will have four current players representing Team USA at the Olympics. That list includes Triston Casas, Joey Meneses, Ronaldi Baldwin and Denyi Reyes.
They’ll also have eight former players making the trip to Tokyo either playing for the U.S. or their respective country.
Team USA is scheduled to open up Olympic play on Friday, July 30 vs. Israel.
“I don’t think there’s another minor league organization that’s better represented at the Olympics than the Portland Sea Dogs this year, so that makes us incredibly proud of the work that these guys have done, and it’s really a great honor for these players to represent their country,” said Chris Cameron, Vice President of Communications and Fan Engagement for the Sea Dogs.
