BANGOR – Over a dozen Maine basketball icons were inducted into this years Maine Basketball Hall of Fame, one of the youngest is Hermon Hawks head coach, Mark Reed. He’s looking forward to adding to his resume well past his induction.
Reed’s most recent milestone came in 2018 when he led Hermon to its first state championship. As a player under his father Roger, Mark led Bangor to the 1992 Eastern Maine Class A championship and the 1993 Class A state title.
Reed thanked his peers and players at the induction ceremony and says the biggest reason he coaches is to share knowledge with his players.
“Finding a way to give back to something that’s given so much to you and your experiences. You know there’s a lot of players that are young players that are coming along that want to accomplish great things and it’s just kind of fun to hope that you can be a part of that for them,” Reed said.
