GORHAM – After a chip-in by Ruby Haylock to win the Maine Women’s Amateur on the eighteenth hole, Caleb Manuel won the Maine Junior Boys Championship with an impressive final shot of his own.
Manuel snuck past Armand Oulette Wednesday afternoon with an albatross on the par 5 eighteenth hole, to win the Maine Junior Boys Championship outright.
Both players sat at -6 going in to the final hole at Gorham Country Club. Oulette scored a birdie, Manuel made it in the cup with just two shots to surge ahead for the win.
Wednesday’s win is the continuation of a strong summer for Manuel, who set the course record with a 59 at Brunswick Golf Club, finished fourth at the Maine Amateur and finished third at the New England Amateur.
Nokomis’s Lindsay Cote beat out Maine Womens Amateur winner Ruby Haylock by four strokes to win the Maine Junior Girls Championship.
