EUROPE – Two Maine natives will play again on the hardwoods abroad.
Former Messalonskee standout and Eastern Kentucky grad Nick Mayo will play another season in Japan. After starting his pro career with the Chiba Jets, Mayo will play for Levanga Hokkaido in the Japanese city of Sapporo next season.
European basketball veteran and UMaine alum Troy Barnies will play for his ninth professional team next season. Barnies announced Sunday that he signed a contract with the BC Lietkabelis Panevėžys in Lithuania after playing last season in Russia.
