HARRISONBURG, Va. – Maine football fell to No. 3 James Madison University on Saturday, dropping to 0-2 on the season.
The Dukes jumped out to early an early lead on a 27-yard TD throw from Cole Johnson to Noah Turner, and from there it was all JMU.
Late in the first quarter, Maine junior quarterback Joe Fagnano went down after an incomplete pass intended for Devin Young. Fagnano was helped off the field and did not return. According to Maine Athletics, Fagnano’s X-rays came back negative, but he is dealing with a lower-leg injury. No timeframe has been made for his return.
The Black Bears’ only score came in the third quarter when Derek Robertson connected with Andre Miller for a 22-yard touchdown pass.
James Madison ran away with it, 55-7 the final.
Maine will return home next Saturday to face Merrimack. That game will be aired on ABC 7, kickoff scheduled for noon.
