Black Bear Field Hockey Player Wins Award

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.Annabelle Hamilton, who is coming off a week where she tallied a league-high eight points, earned the America East Player of the Week award for her offensive efforts. This is the first time this season she has received the award.

Hamilton kicked offer her week with an assist against Providence, on Oct. 28, helping the Black Bears to a 4-1 victory against the Friars. 

Her biggest boon, however came against conference foe, Vermont, on Saturday, Nov. 2. Hamilton scored three first half markers to go along with at two assists to lead the Black Bears to a 9-1 rout of the Catamounts at the UMaine Field Hockey complex.

She finished the regular season ranked first on the team in points with 35 (13 goals and nine assists) while she ranked fourth in the conference. 

Hamilton has been a key offensive cog for the Maine offense this season as she has accounted for 20 percent of the team's goals and 18 percent of the team's points this season. Those offensive marks have been key to Maine victories as the team is 8-4 when she records at least one point.

The Black Bears earned the third overall seed in this year's America East tournament. They are slated to play No. 2 seed Albany in Durham, N.H., this year's tournament site.
