"Even when I came here I wasn't necessarily planning on doing track for five years, so it's an honor to be at a meet this big," said Mace
Mace has made seamless transitions to three different sports since he started high school at Maranacook, ranging from alpine skiing to tennis, "I was actually more into alpine skiing in high school than I was track."
The UMaine grad student has changed sports several times but been successful in every sport he's tried, finding the most success with javelin.
"It's not necessarily that I get bored with things, but maybe after I get into it for awhile I want to try something new," said Mace.
Mace and throwers and jumpers coach Gerhard Skall have been putting in the work all season, and now Mace is peaking at the right time; he threw a season best at the New England Outdoor Championships last month.
