The spring is always key for incoming freshman, transfers and guys that didn't play the previous year to the put their knowledge of the play book into action.

The running backs are in need of some players to step up and earn starting roles according to Charlton. The position group is currently set back by Joe Fitzpatrick's nagging injuries and the uncertainty of Ramon Jefferson's status; Jefferson has another court appearance May 8 related to his domestic violence assault arrest.

"We're still working through those guys, we're creating depth at the position. We'll get [Fitzpatrick] back and obviously the Ramon situation, but we'll see where that ends up at," said Charlton.
