Lions release Trevor Bates

DETROIT - Two days after pleading not gulity to a felony assault charge Trevor Bates has been released by the Detroit Lions.

Bates was arrested in New York City back in January after he refused to pay a cab fare. Police say when he was brought in for fingerprints he refused and punched an officer. The former UMaine star finished with three tackles in nine games this past year for the Lions.
