PITTSFIELD -Wednesday morning, cousins Madisyn Hartley and Victoria Friend signed their national letters of intent to continue their field hockey careers at Maine and UMass Lowell, respectively.

Both members of the 2015 Class C state championship team will compete in the America East eastern division next season and will have one head-to-head match up.

As they'll tell you, the friendly competition will get a little more serious next season.

"We're like each other's number one supporters you know we're our number one year it's going to be a little different..we're still going to be rooting for each other but..go River Hawks..," said Friend.

"Go Bears..," said Hartley.

"I think people are more aware of MCI field hockey where they wouldn't have been in the past and part of that is because of those two coming up and the expectations that they brought and a lot of the offseason things they do and other girls are like 'hey I want to be that good..'" said MCI field hockey head coach Nancy Hughes.
