Winchester excited to get started with youthful team

HAMPDEN - High school basketball season in just three days away.

Hampden Academy head coach Nick Winchester is happy to be busy once again as his Hampden Broncos are primed to make another run in Class A North this year.


The Lady Broncos lost several seniors including Marissa Gilpin, Sophia Narofsky and current Husson Eagle Braylee Wildman, but they do return Bailey Donovan and Alydia Brillant.


The biggest contribution may come from what Winchester is calling a loaded junior class, it just might not come at the start.


"I have high expectations for that group they're extremely talented basketball players they're just not experienced in what Class A KVAC basketball will be like when we get started and that's just a growing maturation process," Winchester said.
