ORONO - After its big win over No. 15 Towson on Saturday Maine football has rocketed up in the FCS Stats poll.

The Black Bears have risen seven spots to No. 16 after beating the Tigers down in Maryland. It's the highest ranking for the blue and white this season.

Maine is now one of six CAA teams ranked in the top 25. Redshirt freshman Ramon Jefferson also earned some praise this week after his huge game against Towson.

Jefferson has been named the CAA co-rookie of the week after exploding for 121 yards and three touchdowns.

The Black Bears will look to stay atop the CAA standings this week when they travel to take on Richmond.
