PORTLAND - After 45 years in baseball, 25 with the Portland Sea Dogs, longtime team president Charlie Eshbach is stepping down.

Eshbach, who was recently inducted into the Sea Dogs hall of fame will pass the torch to longtime Sea Dogs employee Geoff Iacuessa who will serve as the Sea Dogs new president and general manager.

Eshbach will still stay on as a senior advisor to the team. He along with the late Dan Burke brought minor league baseball back to Portland in 1994 and it's been a home run ever since. As for the new skipper, he's excited to keep the rich baseball tradition going down in Portland.

"Grateful for all the year that I've had to learn under Charlie and he's been a tremendous mentor and teacher and to be able to have him here in Portland and be able to put his fingerprints on the organization it's awesome to be able to learn under him it's been a tremendous opportunity," Iacuessa said.
