ORONO - Normally Monday is the worst day of the week. You lost in fantasy football, you have to go to work...not ideal. But, all has been well in Black Bear Nation because for the second straight Monday Maine football is nationally ranked.

Maine has moved up five spots to No. 17 in the FCS Stats poll. The fresh ranking comes after one of the biggest comebacks in program history. Maine erased an early 21 point deficit to beat FBS school Western Kentucky this Saturday.

It was Maine's third ever win over an FBS school and its first since 2013. It's still early, but a 2-0 start has Orono buzzing. The Black Bears are just trying to stay grounded as they know a lot of season remains ahead of them.

"It just gives you confidence that the kids are listening and like I said being in that situation and coming back from that on the road against an f-b-s school should hopefully prepare us for any situation this year," head coach Joe Harasymiak said.
