Boyington took down UFC veteran Sean Soriano last weekend at CES 51, capturing the promotion's featherweight title via a rear naked choke. The quick submission came minutes after Boyington was locked in a choke as well, but he fought out to give himself second life.
"I just told myself in that moment, don't let this happen again, no matter what, don't give up, and fight until I'm either unconscious or something else happens," Boyington said Thursday while speaking at NFL veteran Mike DeVito's football camp in Hermon.
Boyington fought with a torn MCL, still managing to pick up the win in front of a surprised audience. Now he looks back at it as one of the top moments of his career.
"Just being in a situation where you're kind of down and to come back, rebound and get a victory after that, yeah, I was on cloud nine," he said.
The local fighter is uncertain at this time as to when he will fight next while he gets the injury tended to.
