Maine women's soccer excited to showcase new roster

ORONO - University of Maine women's soccer has only two weeks to prepare for the start of the 2018 season. Not a lot of time for any team, let alone a totally revamped squad.

The Black Bears lost some key pieces from last years team and welcome in 12 new freshman to Orono this season. Newly extended head coach Scott Atherley has a tall task on his hands in order to get his team ready for its season opener against UMass a week from today.

 

Atherley and the senior leaders are welcoming the challenge though and see it as an opportunity to possibly catch America East by surprise.

 

"Its a lot of incentive for us I mean the poll came out we're ranked pretty low but with 12 new freshman coming in its just kind of a clean slate their are no expectations for us to perform every game is an opportunity to prove something as a team," defender Mikayla Morin said.
