HARRINGTON - In 2016, Heather Thompson took Narraguagus girls basketball to the Promised Land. Two years later, she's stepping away from the program.

Thompson took to Facebook to announce her resignation as head coach of the team Wednesday, citing commitments to her family as one of the reasons for leaving.

"My family and I will be cheering them all on from the stands and hope that we all can come together to support, encourage, and cheer for each of them..as a player and as a team," part of Thompson's post read. She also noted in it she officially resigned Aug. 1.

After joining the program before the 2014-2015 season, Thompson led the Lady Knights to the Class C state title in 2015-2016. She also gained celebrity status earlier this year, when the well-known lobsterwoman was spotlighted in a commercial for the restaurant chain Red Lobster.
