ORONO - It's a new era of basketball at the University of Maine for the men's basketball, and that even includes for summer camps.

The Black Bears are holding their day camp July 9 through July 12 for campers ages eight through 14, where kids will get a chance to interact with members of the team, learn from the coaching staff and develop skills. Members of the team's new coaching staff say they are trying to build the program on principles of work ethic, discipline and community service, something that should be evident to those attending.

Assistant Kevin Reed also praised having new head coach Richard Barron as an instructor.

"Coach Barron just adds a wealth of knowledge in and of itself," Reed said Monday afternoon. "Without even demonstrating a drill, he can add a verbal nugget that you will take with you for the camp. He just adds that knowledge."

More information on the camps can be found online.
