Maple Leafs trade former Black Bear Vesey to Oilers

EDMONTON, Alberta - After a successful four years in Orono, former Maine Black Bear Nolan Vesey has a new landing spot.


The former Black Bear forward was traded by the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Edmonton Oilers Friday, in exchange for a conditional seventh round draft pick in 2020. Vesey, a sixth round pick in 2014, must be signed by August 15 to a new deal or he will become an unrestricted free agent.


Vesey scored 11 goals with 14 assists in 37 games this past season.

Jon has been acknowledged by the Society of Professional Journalists for his commitment to sports journalism, including his investigative work while covering Quinnipiac Athletics.

Prior to moving to Maine, Jon was a lifelong resident of New Jersey. There, he formed a passion for covering sports, knowing since age 5 he wanted to tell stories for a living.
