High schools start winter sports games Monday

Written by John Wagoner

0shares

STATEWIDE- A good day for players in the high school ranks, as the high school basketball season got underway Monday evening.

Jan. 11 was the first allowable day of games for high school winter sports teams across the state.
While many teams are taking things slow in getting their seasons started, several schools in Central Maine and Aroostook County tipped their basketball seasons off Monday, including Cony and Mt. Ararat, as well as Mt. Blue and Lawrence.

Schools in the Greater Bangor area will begin their basketball seasons over the next 10-14 days.

Some of those schools started their hockey seasons Monday, Bangor and Old Town/Orono playing to a 1-1 tie at Sawyer Arena.
