BANGOR – Bangor softball had an exciting finish to their 2021 season. The No. 8 seed rode a wave of momentum all the way to the Class A North final–a positive ending for Don Stanhope’s 15-year run as head coach.
With his departure, Bangor has turned to a familiar name in the world of Maine athletics. Maureen Barron will take over as the new head coach for Bangor softball, according to Bangor Athletic Director Steve Vanidestine.
Barron, who is married to UMaine men’s basketball head coach Richard Barron, formerly coached the sport at Princeton University, and briefly served as an assistant at UMaine.
She’ll now coach her two daughters, Rae and Lane for the Rams.
