OAKLAND – Nick Mayo has found his new home and it’s over 6,000 miles away.
ABC 7/FOX 22 can confirm the former Messalonksee Eagle has signed a pro deal with the Chiba Jets, a Japanese professional basketball team. The news was first reported by Travis Lazarczyk of the Kennebec Journal.
Chiba went 52-8 last year and in first place in the eastern conference of their league. The Jets fell in the league final.
Mayo just wrapped up a stint with the Miami Heat in the NBA Summer League where he averaged 9 points per game and shot 63% from the field.
The versatile big man was one of the best players in Eastern Kentucky men’s basketball history scoring 2,316 points, the most in program history.
