BANGOR – Josh Sherwood’s third period tally proved to be the game-winner in Bangor boys hockey’s 3-2 win over Old Town/Orono Monday night at Sawyer Arena.
The Black Bears also announced that they will be holding a fundraiser for one of its player Dylan Street after he underwent emergency surgery this weekend.
Street had surgery to remove an infection and will be recovering in a Boston hospital for at least three weeks.
The Black Bears hung his jersey behind their bench during the Bangor game and Old Town athletic director Jeremy Bousquet video chatted Street during the game so he could watch.
Once the OT/Orono hockey community heard the news about Street, they didn’t hesitate to help.
“More times than not people get together and come together for the cause of whoever it is and in Dylan’s situation word pretty quickly of his issue and its been a huge support ever since,” head coach Chris Thurlow said.
The fundraiser will be held in February during one of the Black Bears’ home games.
