Tour Tracker Wells Fargo first round

Rickie Fowler returns to the site of his first – and only – PGA Tour victory this week at Quail Hollow Club.

But in order to defend his Wells Fargo Championship title, Fowler will need to hold off the likes of Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and others.

Fowler will tee off in Thursday's first round at 7:40 a.m. He'll play alongside Mickelson and Nick Watney.

We'll follow the action throughout the day in Charlotte, N.C.

And off we go!

Update No. 2: 8:29 a.m. EDT

Chris Kirk is among the early leaders at 2 under. Kirk birdied Nos. 2-3 to get there. He's made 9-of-10 cuts so far this season on Tour to go along with a pair of top-5 finishes, including a runner-up showing at Pebble Beach in early February. Kirk, however, has only finished inside the top 20 once since Pebble Beach. He's still 18th in the FedEx Cup standings, though.
