Update No. 7, 12:51 p.m. EST

Jimmy Walker and Bob Estes still hold the lead at 3 under. Estes, who turned pro in 1988, has had success at this event in recent years. His last three starts here have produced finishes of T-15, T-16 and T-4. Estes made birdies on Nos. 3-5 at SHGC today and is through six holes.

Update No. 4, 12:23 p.m. EST

Jimmy Walker is having a pretty good start to the season. The former Baylor player has made all four cuts this season, including finishing T-4 at Farmers. He's looking to make it five cuts in a row to begin the year this week,a nd he's already out to a great start.

Walker eagled the par-5 10th at Monterey Peninsula CC, his first hole of the day. That puts him at 2 under and in a tie for the lead with Augusta State product Henrik Norlander and Brendon Todd.

Update No. 3, 11:53 a.m. EST

A number have players have joined Derek Ernst in the lead at 1 under. Among those are Bob Estes, Morgan Hoffmann, Henrik Norlander and Vijay Singh, who just birdied No. 2 at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Update No. 2, 11:42 a.m. EST

There are a lot of big names competing as amateurs this week, including NFL stars Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo, tennis player Andy Roddick, and former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. And while the many celebrities entered in the event will generate a lot of buzz, perhaps no one will receive as much attention as Vijay Singh.

Singh withdrew from last week's Phoenix Open due to a back injury, but the withdrawal came after Singh, 49, disclosed that he used deer-antler spray in an interview with Sports Illustrated. The deer-antler substance contains a banned performance-enhancer connected to human growth hormone.

Singh is playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and just began his round Thursday. Singh has a par on No. 1 at Pebble Beach Golf Links early on.

Update No. 1, 11:28 a.m. EST

The first round is in its early stages and Derek Ernst sits atop the leaderboard at 1 under. The former UNLV player started his round with a birdie on No. 10 at Spyglass Hill GC. Ernst hasn't gotten off to the best of starts in his rookie season, finishing T-59 at the Sony Open, and missing the cut at both the Humana Challenge and Farmers Insurance Open.
