Black Bear, Former Brewer Witch Eric White Named America East Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- University of Maine baseball third baseman Eric White (Brewer, Maine) was named the America East Player of the Week on Monday, April 1. He becomes the third Black Bear to be named Player of the Week this year, joining Colin Gay (Feb. 18) and Michael Fransoso (Feb. 25). He is the sixth different Black Bear to be honored by America East. 

The Black Bears took two of three games from Albany over the weekend in their home-opening series. White hit .545 for the Black Bears with five runs scored and two RBI. He had a double on the weekend and stole a pair of bases. White was perfect in 12 chances in the field at third base. 

White finished with a hit in all three games for the Black Bears. He was 2-for-3 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday where he scored a run in Maine's 4-1 win. He finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored in Maine's 7-4 win in the second game. He had a hit and drove in a pair of runs in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. 

Maine currently sits atop the America East standings with a mark of 6-3 in league play. The Black Bears return to action on Saturday, April 6 when they host Binghamton for a doubleheader starting at 1 PM.
