Central Softball Snaps Bucksport's Streak

BUCKSPORT - The Bucksport softball team couldn't overcome Central's 5-run third inning, leading to the Golden Bucks' first loss in 43 games. The two-time reining State Champs were riding a 62-1 record dating back to the start of the 2011 season when they entered Wednesday's contest with the Red Devils.

Before the game, one of Central's coaches told the girls, "We need to show them [Bucksport] that we're the ones to beat in Class C."

After giving up 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, Central rallied to plate 5 runs in the third inning and won by a final score of 8-5.

Up next, Central hosts Mattanawcook Academy on Friday, while Bucksport looks to get back on track when they travel to Searsport the same day.
