BANGOR - After breaking her leg in the summer, the future looked bleak for former Bangor girls soccer forward Lauren Young.

Fast forward seven months later, she's put pen to paper and will be continuing her career up in Orono.

Young signed her national letter of intent this morning at Bangor High School. Young shared the big moment with family, friends and Bangor girls soccer head coach Joe Johnson.

The former Bangor stand out came back fast from the gruesome injury as she was able to return to the field in October. Her fast recovery was just one of the many things that caught Maine head coach Scott Atherley's eye.

While Young is eager for the future, she expressed her gratitude for what Bangor has given her.

"Bangor has definitely allowed me to explore my limits and it has definitely boosted my confidence in this sport. Like in middle school I would have never guessed that I'd be this in love with the sport," Young said.
