MDI - It's been a tough week for MDI boys basketball guard Andrew Phelps, the senior underwent an emergency appendectomy earlier this week and is now out for the rest of the regular season.

Phelps has been crucial to the Trojans success this season, as he was during the Trojans run to a Class B state title last season. While the surgery was initially frustrating for Phelps he has now been able to reflect and take positives away from what has been a pretty stressful week.

"Well I've never actually had to have any operations done before so the whole experience of just having to go the hospital and getting pricked and prodded was kind of scary for me. I'm kind of happy now because I won't miss playoffs so that's a pretty big relief for me," Phelps said.
