Well all of that has happened to the sophomore forward.
In just his second year, Pearson is tied for first on the team with 24 points. Along with co-captain Mark Hamilton, Pearson has helped lead Maine to a 14-9-4 record and within striking distance of a first round bye in the Hockey East tournament.
Pearson admitted that there have been some growing pains during his time as captain, but as the Black Bears head into another important series this weekend with Merrimack, Pearson says his role has now been solidified.
"I was pretty surprised when the coach announced it and honored at the same time. It came as a surprise but I think that I was ready for the role. Maybe I take a few things in stride and learn as I go but that's all part of it and I think that guys have respected me," Pearson said.
