PORTLAND - Last month, ABC 7 and Fox 22 noted the University of Maine men's basketball program was tracking two high school stars from the southern part of the state in Portland's Terion Moss and Oxford Hills' Matthew Fleming. Moss in particular, a Class of 2018 prospect out who was named Gatorade Player of the Year, is attracting significant interest from the program.

A source indicated early Wednesday Moss received an offer from UMaine, which was followed by a tweet from Moss' AAU program, Blue Wave Basketball.

Shortly after, a high-ranking source within the Maine basketball program indicated to ABC 7 and Fox 22 Moss has not received a formal offer from the program at this time, though UMaine does have heavy interest in the Bulldog. They said the team will be meeting with Moss in the fall, and said he is "likely" to receive an offer of sorts. The staff is said to be "very high" on him.

Shortly after this, the AAU program deleted its tweet claiming he had received the offer.

Moss was the Maine Gatorade Player of the Year this past season, helping lead Portland to its second-consecutive Class AA state title. He averaged 17.6 points per game in the process, with Portland losing just two games in that span.
