ORONO - The high school track and field season is winding down, and several teams are preparing for the coming championship weeks.

Orono hosted a PVC meet at UMaine on Thursday, and came away with wins in both the boys and girls overall team events.

Individually, Riots senior Jake Koffman shined once again in the throws - winning both discus and shot put. The Riots 4x800 meter boys relay team also came away with a big win as well, which they hope is a sign of things to come.

"We're coming towards the end of the season," said junior Jonny Spencer. "This can show what we're going to do in the championship meets and how we can still improve throughout the rest of the season."

"Just getting this in again this year is really good for us," added sophomore Jonathan Steelman, "because we can really monitor our breathing, monitor what we need to do going into the championship meets."

John Bapst placed second in both boys and girls overall team events.

The Crusaders brought home wins in the girls 4x800 meter relay, as well as the high jump, as Olivia St. Germain cleared five feet en route to victory.
