Gasol to sit out Tuesday vs. Houston
Gasol has been feeling the effects of tendinitis since training camp began in October.
His play on the court in recent games has been erratic. He was benched for the last 6:07 of the Lakers' loss to Orlando on Sunday and was held out of the entire fourth quarter of a recent game against Memphis.
"His knees are really bothering him," Lakers spokesman John Black said. "They're sore and affecting his play. We're going to rest him and see if it gets better."
Gasol is listed as day-to-day. The Lakers play at New Orleans on Wednesday and at Oklahoma City on Friday to complete the three-game trip.
Gasol is averaging only 12.6 points this season and shooting just 42 percent, both of which would be career-lows if they didn't improve.
Antawn Jamison is the likely candidate to start in Gasol's place.
