Teams that missed the NFL playoffs are wasting no time getting started on their rebuilding. A busy Black Monday has coaches and GMs out the door. Here's the latest:

Bolts clean house: Turner, GM both out

A third straight season out of the playoffs has convinced San Diego Chargers president Dean Spanos to change direction. The team announced the firings of head coach Norv Turner and general manager A.J. Smith following a 7-9 season. It was the third straight season the Chargers' win total declined. Full story.

Cards fire Whisenhunt, GM

Three seasons without a playoff appearance was too long for Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt and general manager Rod Graves. As first reported by ESPN, Whisenhunt and Graves were fired after a 5-11 season marked by only one victory in the final 12 contests. The dismissal marks the end of Whisenhunt’s six-year tenure that included the only Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, during the 2008 season. Full story.

Bears' Smith out after 10-win season

After nine seasons, the Chicago Bears have parted ways with head coach Lovie Smith. As first reported by NFL Network, Smith was fired by general manager Phil Emery.

Despite posting a 10-6 record, the Bears failed to reach the playoffs for the fifth time in six seasons. Smith was 84-66 overall during his time in Chicago and led the team to a Super Bowl. Smith, though, wasn’t hired by Emery, who became the team’s general manager last year after the firing of Jerry Angelo. Full story.

Bills cut cord with Gailey

The failure to break the NFL's longest playoff drought, 13 seasons, cost Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey his job. General manager Buddy Nix, who hired Gailey to replace Dick Jauron in January 2010, could be the next member of the team fired. Full story.

Reid's long run in Philly ends

No head coach in Philadelphia Eagles history has enjoyed more success than Andy Reid. But Reid's failure to win a Super Bowl and a 4-12 record in 2012 led to his ouster. Reid's firing after 14 seasons as head coach was announced on the team’s web site. Full story.
