State Police: Extra Patrols on New Year's Eve

Bangor - Tonight is certainly no exception for State Police following holiday procedure to beef up anti-drunk driving enforcement.

If you're out tonight, you can expect to see more roving patrols rather than relying on sobriety check points, which is this year's attempt to keep drunk drivers off the road. They say they're targeting areas that have statistically produced a high number of drunk driving arrests.

Police will be out patroling streets both in town and on the outskirts of Bangor, in both police cruisers and unmarked vehicles.

Area Power Outage Affecting 1,000 Customers

BANGOR -  Bangor Hydro is reporting a number of power outages this evening.

They tell us due to high winds and heavy snow over the past couple of days, 1,000 customers are without electricity.

The affected ares are Charleston, Bradford, Corinth, and Hudson; along with a few coastal areas. Crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible.

The electric company does say continued high winds and poor travel conditions from the earlier storms may cause some additional outages.

Bangor Hydro wants to remind customers if they ever see any fallen lines to never approach them, and contact the electric company or authorities as quickly as possible.
