Officials Work Hard to Ensure Safe New Year's Eve

BANGOR - It's one of the biggest nights to celebrate, saying goodbye to the old year, and hello to the new. But a lack of judgement can quickly change things. Our Erin Thomas spoke with safety officials trying to make sure everyone has a happy 2014.

Penobscot Narrows Bridge Reopens

VERONA ISLAND - A bridge connecting two counties was closed for nearly 36 hours after falling ice damaged passing vehicles. Maine DOT officials worked throughout the day to fix the situation on the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. After trying to break ice from the suspension cables with a crane earlier Monday night, officials decided to reopen the bridge to traffic.

Warden Service, Snowmobilers Announce PSA

AUGUSTA - It's been several years since Maine has seen a winter with no snowmobile fatalities, and now the Warden Service and snowmobilers across the state are teaming up to reduce the number of crashes.

Jobless Mainers Lose Benefits

AUGUSTA - Mainers on long-term unemployment are no longer receiving benefits after this past weekend.

Murder suspect held

A man accused of murdering his wife on Christmas day is being held without bail. 30 year old Christopher Saenz is accused of killing his 29 year old wife Hillary. Authorities say their two children went to a neighbors house when they couldn't wake their mother. An autopsy revealed that she died as the result of blunt force trauma. Christopher Saenz made his first court appearance this afternoon and was ordered to be held without bail. He was arrested Friday night.
