Students Take Flight in Old Town

OLD TOWN - Dozens of young aspiring pilots are taking flight this week, as part of the Civil Air Patrol Powered Flight Academy.

Fatal Accident in Hancock

Hancock - From the Maine State Police: State Police are investigating a crash in the town of Hancock on Route 1 that happened just after 11:00 pm last night. The investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, pulled out of Tideway Market in Hancock and headed north on Route 1 towards Sullivan. The vehicle started to pass another vehicle when it went off the road striking a parked pick-up truck and then rolled over. There were four people in the vehicle. One was pronounced dead at the scene. Three were transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Two were treated and released. The driver was pronounced dead at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.

County Ambulance, Hancock Fire Department and Hancock Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.

Route 1 was closed for approximately an hour and a half.

The crash is still under investigation. No further investigative details are being released at this time.
