Waterville store damaged by fire

An automatic alarm helped prevent more damage when a fire broke out last night in Waterville.
The alarm went off after nine oclock last night at the party supply business on Sanger Avenue. Fire crews discovered there was a fire in the basement and quickly went to work. The fire ended up destroying a vehicle that was being stored in the building along with thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Fire officials say if it wasn't for the smoke alarm that alerted authorities the entire building could've been lost. The business reopened today as workers tried to salvage what they could. The owners say the rental portion of the business will reopen because many of tents, chairs and other party rentals are stored at another location in Winslow.

A Bapst thank you

A group of Bangor firefighters received a special treat this morning.
The folks at John Bapst High School wanted to come up with a way to say thank you for all the firefighters did to save their school last week. The Bapst chefs and student leadership groups decided to cook them a great meal. They were there this morning making omelets and other tasty food. The fire started when a worker was trying to thaw some ice on the schools roof. The fire fighters managed to stop the blaze before the damage was more severe.
