A man and his three young children are dead after an early morning fire. His wife, their mother, is the lone survivor. It is the deadliest blaze in maine in 20 years.
Authorities say neighbors reported a massive blaze coming from the Dow Road home just before 3 a-m. When crews arrived, they found the structure engulfed and the children's mother, 31-year-old christine johnson, on the roof. 30 year old Benjamin Johnson III, his two sons, ages 9 and 4, and his daughter, age 8, died in the home. Paramedics transported Christine Johnson to eastern maine medical center to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Her condition was initially said to be serious, but officials say she improved today. Investigators intend to speak with her before they release their findings tomorrow. Her husband benjamin johnson worked at hollywood casino in bangor. Christine is an author.
