Fire in St. Albans Rips Through Home

ST. ALBANS - At around 4:30 Friday morning, fire crews from Somerset and Penobscot Counties responded to a fire, which tore through one home.

The fire started in the basement area of the two-story house, according to Chief Jason Emery.

One of the two homeowners was home, asleep, before the initial 9-1-1 call was made.

Hartland, Dexter and Corinna supplied the more than two mile water supply shuttle from a near-by pond.

Fire crews nursed the flames, throughout the morning hours, while the structure continued to collapse on to itself.

The homeowner seems to be healthy at this time and did not have to be treated for smoke exposure.
