Senator Collins Joins Effort To Soften Spending Cuts

Augusta - Senator Susan Collins is joining a bipartisan effor to soften the spending cuts due to hit today.
The Maine Republican and Colorado Democratic Senator Mark Udall introduced a bill yesterday that wouldn't stop the 85-billion dollars in cuts.  It would allow federal agencies to come up with plans to cut spending strategically, instead of across-the-board.  The House and Senate Appropriations Committees would have to approve alternate spending plans.
