Lawmakers Considering Earlier Alcohol Sales

Augusta - Mainers who get off work before dawn could pick up a six-pack on the way home, under a bill now before the Legislature.
Republican Representative Paul Gilbert of Jay says he's sponsoring the bill in response to the changing hours of mill workers and others in his community who ofter work 12-hour shifts. Their workdays often end in the early morning hours. Gilbert's bill would allow stores to sell alcoholic beverages as early as five a.m.
