Backpacks Filled with Food Help a Hungry Family

Written by
GUILFORD - The Richardson's know tough times...when Jessica's husband, Ron, was laid off a couple years ago...it suddenly became a struggle to feed their four children.
That's when they heard about the backpack program...an effort from a local food pantry to help hungry kids...supplementing their food on the weekends to help them do better in school.  Volunteers meet every Wednesday to stuff the backpacks with items like cereal, granola bars, and macaroni and cheese--healthy foods that the Richardson kids love.
The Greenville school system is working to establish a similiar program, as they have also seen a growing need among local children.  If you would like to donate to the effort, you can go to visit the Maine Partnership online.
