HERMON - The commissioners for the Maine Wabanaki State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission were sworn in today.
The commission will work as a mediator between the Wabanaki Tribal Government and the State of Maine.
It will give the groups an opportunity to discuss the things that happened to the Wabanaki children and families who were involved with the Maine Child Welfare System and taken from their homes.
Now that the commission has been seated, they will begin their work immediately. Their service could last up to two and half years.
