Passadumkeag Man may have Thought Frozen River was Road

PASSADUMKEAG - Authorities are now investigating what may have caused a passadumkeag man to drive his car into the penobscot river during the blizzard over the weekend.
75 year old Gerald Crommett's body and truck were recovered sunday morning.  Authorities say Crommett was headed to his bait shop in Enfield when the incident occurred.
Chief Deputy Troy Morton of the penobscot county sheriff's office tells ABC 7 that  it appears Crommett was disoriented after his car left the road and due to the high winds and snow drifts, it's a possibility he thought the ice over the river was the road.
The chief medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death. Crommett is the father in law of State Senator Andre Cushing who thanked all of those who took part in the search.
